Canadian small business grants database
A curated list of federal, provincial, and major regional grants and non-dilutive funding available to Canadian small businesses in 2026. Filter by province, stage, and category. We don’t list programs that are perpetually “closed for applications”.
Last reviewed June 2026. Always confirm program status on the official site before applying.
About this list
We focus on programs that actually pay out money - grants, repayable contributions with a forgivable portion, and wage subsidies. We deliberately exclude:
- Programs that are permanently oversubscribed.
- Pure loan programs (a separate loans guide is coming).
- “Free consultations” dressed up as grants.
Where else to look
- Innovation Canada - federal search across innovation, hiring, and export programs.
- canada.ca / Business grants and financing.
- Your local economic development office - the smaller municipal programs rarely make it onto roundups but can be material.
How to apply (briefly)
- Read the eligibility criteria carefully. Most rejections are basic eligibility mismatches.
- Talk to the program officer before applying. They’ll tell you whether you’re a fit.
- Plan for paperwork. Budget, project plan, financial statements, sometimes letters of support.
- Track timelines. Many programs reimburse only after the work is done.
